Tissy Sweets Bakery & Cafe, originally known as Desserts 4 Dequan, is a Sweets and Treats shop located in Southern MD. Tissy Sweets specializes in gourmet cupcakes, chocolate covered strawberries and other sweet treats. The Shop was named after Dequan, the Founder's son. Desserts 4 Dequan was birthed in 2012 after Dequan’s mom, Kristin, decided to leave work in 2011 to stay home to better assist Dequan with his healthcare and academic needs. Staying home released Kristin from the stress of figuring out how Dequan would attend necessary appointments and the additional stress of balancing her work and Dequan's needs.
Kristin prayed and asked God to allow her to use one of her gifts to work from home and be able to assist her husband with the household finances now that she was no longer employed Full Time. From that, Desserts 4 Dequan was born. Family and friends supported immediately and shared with their family and friends. The support was overwhelming and left Kristin thinking how could she support other families the way the community had supported hers.
Over the years, Desserts 4 Dequan has organized and hosted Christmas and back to school drives. They partner with Kids In Action and other organizations monthly. Giving back to the community is very important for Desserts 4 Dequan and Dequan’s family. D4D’s overall goal is to be able to assist multiple children and their families with necessary financial hardships due to costly medical care. D4D also continues to raise awareness in the community of the hardships families deal with while trying to raise and care for a child with disabilities.
However, as Dequan has grown so has the business. With a continued focus on serving the community, Desserts 4 Dequan is now Tissy Sweets Bakery & Cafe, a mobile cafe which provides all of your favorite desserts and sweets from the original bakery while introducing new cafe style menu items. Spotlight Program | Giving Back to the Community
We are sooooooo excited to introduce you to "D4D Spotlight"! Starting April 2016 and every 1st of the month going forward, we will introduce you to one of our wonderful D4D children and share their unique stories. Each child and their family will receive a gift from us to help with current medical needs. In addition, we hope to help raise awareness for each family's circumstance, remind them that they are not alone and that there is life after diagnosis.
